Due to its flourishing wine trade, Termeno got the state of a market town with all the associated privileges already in 1451 AD. The landscape around Termeno village, located between 240 and 260 m a.s.l., is characterised by vineyards and gentle hills covered with cypresses, olive, fig and lemon trees - in marked contrast to Mt. Roen (2,113 m a.s.l.) rising high above them.
The main square, the historical centre of Termeno village (Tramin Dorf, in German), functions as an event location for celebrations such as the Long Wednesday, the Gewurztraminer Festival and the Egetmann Parade. Around it, however, there are the majestic St. Cyricus and Julitta Parish Church and the Local Museum “Hoamet Tramin Museum” which tells about the Gewurztraminer wine and the village itself. Beautiful historical manors - such as the Romani Residence featuring a restaurant, the Unterspaur and the Langenmantel Residences - characterise the villagescape.
In the north of the village centre, the brook of the Valle dell’Inferno (Devil’s Valley) flows down from Mt. Roen to the Valle dell’Adige valley. In this area of the locality the St. James in Kastelaz Church rises with its fresco cycle, one of the oldest ones in the German speaking area. Termeno village is also the starting point for a fitness trail and several hiking paths, among them the Kastelaz Path to Cortaccia and the Cholera Path to the sports area at the immediate edge of the village. It features three tennis courts and the Sport & Adventure Pool of Termeno.
