San Giuseppe al Lago (St. Josef am See, in German) is not only the smallest of the eight localities of Caldaro, but also the lowest located one in the municipal area. The scattered settlement on the western shores of Lake Caldaro is a paradise for those who love water and sun. This is where you can find the Lido of Caldaro, pedal and paddle boat rentals, a surf school and much more. Also the annual International Lake Caldaro Triathlon takes place right here.
The locality with its few buildings is surrounded by vineyards as well as by the Lake Caldaro Biotope, the reed belt on the southern shores of the lake. This natural gem can be explored by foot - the 7.5 km long Nature Experience Trail (3-hour walk) with its 14 information panels leads also past San Giuseppe al Lago and the small St. Joseph Church from the 17th century.
Also art and culture lovers find some interesting places - historical residences and castles such as the Manincor and Kaltenburg Residences or Castel Ringberg are located here, whereas the St. Joseph Church houses a marble high altar with stone and wood sculptures. And the Lake Stage Performance in summer brings internationally renowned musicians onto the lake stage.
