Already in 2001, the Association for Children, Playgrounds and Recreations (VKE) honoured Caldaro for its child-friendly initiatives, e.g. to transform school yards into kids playgrounds and to open them to the public. Furthermore, "The Children-Friendly Community 2001" was one of the first places in South Tyrol to realise a cycle path, equipped with several play stations.
But the two villages near Lake Caldaro offer also some other highlights, such as the Caldaro Adventure Park, horse drawn carriage rides in Termeno and a special summer programme.
