The Mill Path in Aldino is not only an adventure for children but also a real outdoor museum

This tour is more a walk in the woods than a real hike. The Mill Path (Mühlenweg, in German) near Aldino (Aldein) on the Regglberg plateau is a superb destination for families. Along the Rio Thal you can find an entire ensemble of mills - among them a smithy and a sawmill. The ideal starting point is the parking space at the fire station along the road to Monte San Pietro (Petersberg).
We cross the road and walk past the Neuhaushof farm across the meadows into the forest. After about 10 minutes we reach the Möserwiesen Biotope, a little wetland and habitat for plenty of butterflies and amphibians. A little further on, amidst the forest, suddenly the first mill is ahead: the smithy. Next to the smithy, at the brook, the Schiasser Mill is located, where marbles for children were produced in former times.
A little further on we reach the Matzneller Mill and the Thal Mill, the last is spectacularly built into the slope. Then the path proceeds to the picturesque Lady of the Snows Chapel and as a forest path back towards Aldino. The last attraction along the route is the Stampfer Mill. By the way: the Aldino Museum Association offers guided tours on request (phone: +39 0471 886832).
