The sunny slopes near Egna and Montagna are ideal for relaxing autumn tours, when the vineyards turn yellow and red-brown

By car we go to the neighbouring municipality of Termeno, to Egna (Neumarkt), to be more exact to the district of Mazzon (Mazon) located at the slope. There, near the St. Michael Church, our walk through the forests and vineyards starts. This is an ideal afternoon hike in spring and autumn (then sunny). First we walk to the ruins of Castel Caldiff, located on a ledge above the Valle dei Mulini (Mill Valley). There we also leave the famous wine-growing area of Egna (Pinot Noir).
The forest path takes us into the gorge of the Rio Trodena before we climb up again on the opposite side. Soon the forest clears up and we reach a natural landscape characterised by dry grasslands which soon give way to extending vineyards.
Now we are in the area of Pinzano (Pinzon) near Montagna, also famous for its exquisite Pinot Noir. By the way, the small village of Pinzano is a worth seeing jewel: the ancient Saltner Tower, the church dedicated to St. Stephan with its winged altar, the square with the fountain and numerous interesting frescoes on the ancient walls. To return to our starting point, we take the same route.
