The community theatre has a long history in Caldaro - with its two theatre companies - and in Termeno
There are two theatre companies in Caldaro - the "Heimatbühne Kaltern" and the "Theatergruppe Kaltern" - and one in Termeno - the "Heimatbühne Tramin" - that alternate in performing during the year. In summer, however, the "Lake Stage Performance" houses international musicals, staged between pop stars and bands. Those who love entertaining stories are right in this area!
Also the surrounding villages offer some theatre highlights, such as the "Branzoller Kasperltheater", that's to say the puppet theatre of Bronzolo, and the Bassa Atesina Open-Air Theatre by the "Theater an der Etsch" theatre club (see pic) which started in 1968. In summer it presents stagings of the classical Tyrolean writers, including Schönherr and Kranewitter.
